ARGA European
Equity Fund
The ARGA European Fund is a value-oriented fund, seeking to buy
undervalued European companies when they are temporarily stressed,
unloved or out of favour. The manager, headquartered in Connecticut
in the US, has a deep and experienced team who have a demonstrated
track record of exploiting these market inef昀椀ciencies through in-depth,
independent company research and analysis and then constructing
portfolios that outperform relevant market indices over the longterm. As a 昀椀rm, ARGA manage $23 billion of clients’ assets, mostly for
institutional clients, approximately $650 million of which is in dedicated
European equity strategies. Despite this success, they are still relatively
unknown in the UK.
Team:
ARGA was founded in 2010 and have
built an investment team of over 46
people based in Connecticut and Chennai,
organised into global business analysts,
senior research associates and research
associates. The team are supported by a
dedicated 10-person climate transition
and sustainability team who analyse the
potential impact of climate transition risks
and opportunities on their companies.
Team experience:
A. Rama Krishna is the Founder & CIO
of ARGA and has 38 years’ experience,
including Credit Suisse, AB, Citigroup
and Pzena where he served as President
and participated in the development and
management of their Global Value and
non-US strategies. The other key members
of the team responsible for managing
the European strategy are Bob Mitchell
(36 years’ experience) and Bryan Cheng
(21 years’ experience). We met face-toface with all three of these key Portfolio
Construction Team members as part of
our due diligence into ARGA.
